Dunlap, Bryan R

Description

These 1964-1965 letters from Freedom Summer volunteer Bryan R. Dunlap document his training for Freedom Summer and his experiences as a librarian and teacher at the Vicksburg, Mississippi, Freedom School and writer for the Vicksburg Citizens' Appeal. Particularly interesting are his descriptions of the bombing of the Vickburg Freedom House and his views of his co-workers, of the 1964 presidential candidates, and of Martin Luther King, Jr. who paid a very short visit to Vicksburg while Dunlap was there.
