View of unidentified individuals gathered outside the new West Hunter Street Baptist Church on Gordon Street (now Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard) in the West End neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, for the church's dedication ceremony.In 1973, the West Hunter Street Baptist Church congregation moved from its stone building at 775 Hunter Street NW (now Martin Luther King Jr. Drive) to the former Gordon Street Baptist Church, a brick building at 1040 Gordon Street SW (now Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard). Reverend Ralph David Abernathy served as pastor of the West Hunter Street Baptist Church congregation from 1961 to 1990 and led the effort to acquire the church building on Gordon Street in the 1970s.
