Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript contains purple postmarked stamp "Garrison Mss."George Thompson writes to unknown regarding taking upon a favor of the recipient. He writes, "It is enough to make the heart sick to find men laying claim to Christian character & principle, busied in promulgating...columnies, and fool insinuations; and it is grievous to find a man like you, cooly talking of 'leaving native princes to their fate'-that is, when your own countrymen have plundered & oppressed them, and the fruits of such crimes are still in the nations treasury." He then discusses the "slavery part of the business." He writes, "I who have been seven years connected with the affairs of the Raja of Saltan, have never heard of the existence of a slave within his territory." He does not know of the King of Delhi and the affairs of his harem as any other person. The letter appears to be incomplete.
