Deed of manumission dated May 30, 1860 by Nace Hall for his Negro slaves named George W. Hall, Joseph Hall, Rebecca Myers, and several others. Witnessed by John Forrest and Justice of the Peace J. G. Worthington and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins, the document identifies each slave by name, age, and date to be set free: George W. Hall age about 23 years, to be set free May 30, 1860; Joseph Hall age about 21 years, to be set free May 30, 1860; Martha age about 20 years, to be set free May 30, 1862; Daniel age about 19 years, to be set free on May 30, 1862; James H. age about 17 years, to be set free on May 30, 1864; Louisa age 16 years, to be set free on May 30, 1862; Harriet age 1 month, to be set free April 30, 1878; Allen age about 9 years, to be set free on May 30, 1872; Nancy age 5 years, to be set free May 30, 1860, Belinda age about 30 years, to be set free May 30, 1860; and Rebecca Myers age about 3 years, to be set free May 30, 1875. (Editor's note: Whether the last name for Allen, Belinda, Daniel, Harriet, James H., Louisa, Martha, and Nancy is Hall or Myers, is not known.)
