She complains of the people who have "cruel thoughts in their hearts and call them thoughts of mercy." She wishes that a "true prwacher of righteousness" would come to Saco and Kennebunk. She planned to attend the Christmas fair in Boston, but the death of a "beloved brother has changed my purpose." She hopes to meet Mrs. Lydia Maria Child, "for I think she preaches the true gospel." She encloses money for the anti-slavery cause from her sister Hannah and herself. She regrets that the non-resistant has stopped.
