Description

This scrapbook contains many newspaper clippings about special events occurring or related to the students and staff of North Carolina A&T between late 1934 and the summer of 1937. Well covered events include the death and mourning of Richard B. Harrison, plus an ongoing student protest against the on-campus housing and food conditions and the university's response to parents and state officials. This collection also highlights many on campus musical performances are also detailed. These include traveling performers like opera singer Caterina Jarboro as well as local performances from the Bennett College Glee Club and the Dudley Choral Club. Also highlighted are lectures by William Stanley Braithwaite, the Rev. Dr. W. A. Stanbury and Rev. Benjamin E. Mays.
