Description

Owyang Ming, Consul General of the Imperial Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, writes to Washington Territory Governor Watson C. Squire to thank him for protecting the Chinese in Seattle since there began to be trouble with anti-Chinese sentiment in February. It is rumored that Squire will withdraw the troops still present in Seattle, and Ming hopes Squire will not do so, since it is thought this may lead to a renewal in the unrest among those who are anti-Chinese.
