Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Manuscript annotated on recto, with "110" in pencil beneath Powell's salutation to Garrison.Included in folder with manuscript is a photocopy of manuscript, on two sheets of letter-sized paper.Aaron Macy Powell forwards to William Lloyd Garrison a certified check destined for the "Maria Marriott legacy", and advises Garrison to invest the sum in or near to Boston. Powell asserts that the total sum of $500 is "as large a legacy, in proportion to [Marriot's] estate, as has often if not ever been bequeathed for the benefit of the colored race". Powell praises Marriot as an example of "true Christian philanthropy". Powell exclaims his gratitude for Wendell Phillips' joining their "lecturing force in the campaign just opening".
