Description

Photograph of the narrow entrance to "Little Rock Street", reportedly the smallest street in Baltimore, Maryland. This street, which is east of Poppleton between the 800 block West Saratoga and West Lexington Streets, is a block long and, because of the extension of two buildings on Saratoga, is only six feet wide for one third of its length. This block consists of thirty-five small two-story brick row houses with a continuous back and a stable. In this picture an African American man in working clothes is standing in the entrance to "Little Rock Street" as other three African American men are walking nearby. An African American woman is sitting on the steps of the house to the right of the entrance. A car is parked in front of the house, and a street lamp is located between the two buildings on the sidewalk next to the curb. Sitting beside the light pole are baskets filled with refuse.
