Description

Noon rally on Eldridge Cleaver course Social Analysis 139X course. Speakers include Professors Edward Sampson, who read the response from San Quentin Prison warden Nelson denying the request for student in Cleaver's course to visit the prison. The warden states in his letter his basis for this denial is that the ‚unwholesome publicity you have generated in conjunction with this course has made the issue appear to be incompatible with the entire picture of orderly law enforcement and administration of justice. And finally ‚Ķ. I gather that many of the participants in this class are reluctant to comply with reasonable rules and regulations. Everyone entering the prison as visitor, employee, or inmate is required to do so willingly.‚ Speakers continue to speak in favor of the Cleaver course, and in support of the Oakland Seven and other political prisoners. Brief clip on rally for Poland. Side b is a rally for the Oakland Seven. Digitization made possible through a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council of Libraries and Information Resources.
