Records collected by the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission on the state's compliance with regulations issued by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare regarding school desegregation. The file documents school desegregation orders in the 1960s as well as rulings by the Department of Agriculture about the school lunch program. It also contains a budget of federal funds received from the federal government by Mississippi for education.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
