Description

This folder contains several reports on economic and political conditions in Mississippi and on segregation there, 1963-1965. They include: "Notes from Negroes of Mississippi to the White People of Mississippi"; "Mississippi's Economics and Mississippi's 'New Image'?"; Tom Hayden's 1963 "Power of the Dixiecrats"; and "The Condition of Farm Workers in 1963" by Fay Bennett. Forms include: a 1965 form for recording discriminatory acts following passage of the Civil Rights Act (1964), one for a survey of the West Batesville Farmers' Association, and one for active "Freedom Force" workers. There's also a SNCC memo asking Freedom Force people to notify the Atlanta office when they leave a project, so that the northerners who send them subsistence money can be informed. There's an application to register to vote, and a document about testing the public accommodations portion of the Civil Rights Act (1964) by Henry Aronson and Marian Wright.
