Plumer informs Garrison that he noted the man taking the Boston-bound (rather than the Portland-bound) train at the depot, and states that the man in question was the "rascal that called on [Plumer] a year since". Plumer declares him to be an "imposter" who is "quick and can lie like a white man". Plumer declares their expectation of a lecture from Garrison shortly
