This sheet music for the song “If You Love Your Baby Make De Goo Goo Eyes” was written and composed by Bert Williams and George Walker. The music was originally published by Hurtig and Seamon in 1900, but was used as a supplement to the New York Herald on June 29, 1902. The music sheet features an image of a cartoonish African-American female, making “goo-goo” eyes. Newspapers would often include these supplements in their Sunday editions to boost sales because of the popularity of sheet music during this time.Currently not on view
