Description
Hough branch was renamed Treasure House. This photo was taken March 13, 1966 during a community open house . The hand painted tile around the fireplace depict scenes from Shakespeare Plays. They were removable and could be traded for sets from other branches on King Arthur, Mythology, or Robin Hood. The tiles were painted by the Malin sisters who had a studio in the Old Arcade. The tiles are presently on exhibit in the Main Library in the Literature Department. Building Status: Library branch replaced by new building, 1984 (Building is African American Museum)
