In this WSB newsfilm clip, Atlanta, Georgia mayor William B. Hartsfield discusses how the general welfare of the people and the growth and progress of Atlanta are dependent on preserving an atmosphere of peaceful race relations. He sits at his desk and addresses the camera. The clip opens with Hartsfield declaring that racial violence "affects the cash register as well as the general welfare of our people." He then asserts that preserving peaceful relations is Atlanta's main priority. He states that "rabble rousers" must not be allowed to disrupt peace in the city. He then continues to discuss how peaceful race relations are essential to maintaining the economic growth that Atlanta is experiencing.
