Description

Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Henry Clarke Wright writes to William Lloyd Garrison satisfied that Garrison "has enjoyed the convention & the people" during his stay in Cincinnati. Wright declares that Garrison could not "have spent a week more profitably for the cause" as the Abolitionists of Ohio are "more free to act out the instincts of their Humanity than any other portion of our country." He also shares his hope that "J.B." [probably Joseph Barker] will "do a great work in the West & in the nation as to the overthrow of erroneous ideas of the Bible" and reports that Garrison's family are all well. Wright notes that Garrison's son, George Thompson Garrison, especially "has the elements of a truly generous & noble character."
