February 14, 1951 Reel 90, Item 1 Johnson's Mule Learned from Negro farm hands near Nashville and McMinnville, Tennessee. Johnson had an old gray mule, He hitched him to the cart; He loved that mule and the mule loved him With all that muley's heart. That mule would say, "Hee-haw, hee-haw, hee-haw." That mule, that mule would say, That mule would say "Hee haw." The cock did crow, and Johnson knowed That day was a-bound to break; He curried that mule with the leg of a stool And brushed him with a rake. That mule, that mule would say, "Hee-haw."
