Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.On verso, the delivery address is "Rev. A. A. Phelps, Hopkinton, Mass." It was postmarked "Brooklyn Ct. Feb.[ruary] 3."Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. Above the salutation, the number "62" is written in pencil. On the last page, a small hole extends from the fore edge of the page for about 1.5 cm. Also on the last page, an orange seal is covered by a small scrap of paper that was torn off from the opposite end of the page, showing how the letter was sealed.Cataloged sgellermanGeorge Jeffrey Tillotson writes to Amos A. Phelps telling him about the passing of Tillotson's mother. Tillotson discusses the church and surroundings of Berlin, Connecticut, as well as the local society. He tells Phelps his likely to leave Berlin and plans to go to Brooklyn, Connecticut. Tillotson talks about some of the revivals taking place in Connecticut before relating the society's efforts to encourage him to settle in Berlin.
