Description

"The Rufus Black History" from Ella Duncan and Fern Pemberton Harris. Story of man born March 12, 1894, in Carthage, Texas, and arrived in Duncan, I. T., in 1906-7. Mr. Black married Rosie Kidd, and later Priscilla Baker, helped organize the Antioch Baptist Church, worked for W. I. Gilbert, Johnny Martin and the Beeler and Ownes Motor Company. Black was also a member of the Duncan Police for 29 years. Mentioned also are W. A. Armstead-grocer, Fred Johnson, A. Worley, Robinsons, Edith Lockett.
