Hough Branch 1907: Carnegie building interior detail, fireplace in children's room with story tile

The removeable tiles were a feature of the fireplaces in several early children's rooms in the branches. This set depicts scenes from Shakespeare plays. The tile were handpainted by the Malin sisters of Cleveland, and are now on display at the Main Library in the Literature Department. Building Status: Library branch replaced by new building, 1984 (Building is African American Museum)
