Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Legacy catalog card identifies date of publication of this manuscript as "3 Sept. 1864."Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. Above the salutation the number "153" is written in pencil and the month "Aug" has been crossed out and replaced with "Sept", also written in pencil. Along the head edge of the first page, "From George Thompson" is written and underlined in a different handwriting and a different shade of black ink. In the head- spine corner of the adjacent page, "G.T. Boston, Sept. 3, 186[4]" is also written in pencil.George Thompson writes to William Lloyd Garrison sending his goodbye and saying "All bright angels guard you on your way." He asks Garrison to write and promises to "do what I can for the Liberator while you are away" before wishing he has "a very happy anniversary."
