Description

Correspondence between author Hugh Lofting and Children's librarian Effie Power of the Cleveland Public Library concerning Lofting's visits to Cleveland in 1922 and 1923. Power recommended that Lofting change language in one chapter that she found offensive to African-american children. Lofting and his publisher made the changes in the second edition of one of the Dr. Doolittle series.
