Description
Bill of sale dated March 30, 1859 for a Negro servant named Jacob Mitchell sold by James D. Cooke to Georgiana Williams, wife of Benjamin Williams, all of Howard County, Maryland. The sale is in the amount of $600. Witnessed by Justice of the Peace Wm. A. (William A.) Loder and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins, the document identifies Mitchell as a Negro servant age about 29 years. Loder spells Mrs. Williams' first name Georgeianna, not Georgiana as is used in the rest of the document.
