From a series of audio recordings with members of Boston's Black community about the busing crisis of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Parks had a long pedigree in opposing school in education in Boston. He was active in 1963, when legal challenges to segregation of Boston Public Schools began to mount, assisted in winning passage of the Racial Imbalance Act in 1965, he served as Vice President of METCO, became the State Secretary of Education (1974-1979), and in 1992 became the first African American Chair of the Boston School Committee.
