Description
The effort was unsuccessful, so Lawrence F. Haygood of the Westminster Presbyterian Church led the group in a worship service on the front steps of the building. This image was taken for (but not used in) the article "Church Doors Are Locked" by Mary Ellen Gale, which appeared on page 1 of The Southern Courier for July 30-31, 1966. The issue is available online (not on the ADAH website): http://www.southerncourier.org/low-res/Vol2_No31_1966_07_30.pdf
