Description
Harvey Gantt delivers a campaign speech at Pitt Community College. The college president, Dr. Charles E. Russell, and Jim Young give remarks prior to Gantt. Gantt highlights differences between himself and his opponent, Jesse Helms on government's role in education, job training and labor. Gantt says that people are unable to achieve the American Dream anymore, and need education and job training to compete in the twenty-first century. Gantt expresses support for K-12 programs, Head Start, student loans, equal pay for equal work, and raising the minimum wage. Concludes with a question and answer session. Question topics include abortion, prescription drug prices, and environmental protection.
