Description

Holograph, signed.Mrs. Frances H. Drake has received the package of books that Maria Weston Chapman sent her, but she has only received eight, instead of the twelve, sets of the Liberty Bell for 1843. She includes a list of women's names in the different towns (of Worcester County) who were sent the printed matter. Frances H. Drake is glad to hear of a new Executive Committee of the American Anti-Slavery Society, as she feared last winter that the "Standard & all would sink." She favors holding conventions in every state. She suggests "sending out some lady to the conventions, to get up sewing circles." Frances H. Drake learned the importance of such a move when she was with Abby Kelley (Foster). She discusses the country woman's ignorance of "their rights and privileges in this cause" and feels the day is coming when women will be fitted for higher duties "than superintending the dinner pot & wash tub, & submit[t]ing to the abuses & whims of tyrant man."
