Smith, Benjamin Eugene

Description

This folder contains two documents. One is a detailed legal analysis of whether a confession used in a criminal case can be used again in a civil case. A handwritten note indicates that this issue may have arisen in the COFO v. Rainey case. The second document, dated c. July 1, 1964, is the plaintiffs' arguments in COFO v. Rainey, having to do with the missing civil rights workers, in the Jackson Division of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.
