Description

If you want an idea of the documents a volunteer for Freedom Summer would have received, this folder provides a pretty complete collection. In addition to containing a "Prospectus for the Summer," "Adopt a Freedom School," "An Overview of Community Centers," info on COFO, its political program, the administrative organization of its Jackson office, the MFDP, and biographical sketches of Mississippi legislators, it also contains Jerry Tecklin's acceptance letter, orientation info, a list of project assignments and of materials to bring, advice about phones, security, arrests, and bond money. It also contains a list of Friends of SNCC organizations and an article called "Harvard's Responsibility in Mississippi."
