Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Frederick William Chesson informs Samuel May, Jr. that he has read the latter's letter to William Evans (the treasurer of the Testimonial Fund for George Thompson), to whom Chesson delivered the draft to "Two hundred and forty one pounds 18/.." Chesson recounts that both he and Evans concurred that it might be preferable to invest the net sum of the subscriptions in "American stock" so as to better benefit Thompson, and states his assurance that William Bright would agree with them were his health well enough for him to be consulted on the matter. Chesson relays some of the arrangements concerning the distribution of testimonial subscription funds to Thompson.
