Description

A seminal work for the growth of anti-slavery opinion in France in the late 18th century. Les Saisons contains brief remarks against slavery (in the section "Hiver)" but the chief importance of this book lies in the story of Zimeo, one of three prose tales appended to the main work. Zimeo is the story of a noble enslaved Black and a Quaker master in Jamaica whose benign example prefigures abolitionism."--dealer's description.
