Hand-colored cinema card for actress Sue Carol with a short biography on the back. American actress Sue Carol was born Evelyn Lederer on 30 October 1906 in Chicago, Illinois. She entered films at the age of 20. Her first Hollywood role was in the 1927 film Is Zat So. Some of her other popular films include: Soft Cushions (1927), Slaves of Beauty (1927), Walking Back (1928), and Girls Gone Wild (1929). Carol was married three times. She was married to actor Nick Stuart when she retired from acting in 1937. After retiring from acting, she opened up her own talent agency where she discovered up-and-coming actress Julie London. In 1942, she married actor Alan Ladd with whom she had three children. Carol died of a heart attack on 4 February 1982 at the age of 75 and her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame honors her contributions to the film industry.This card belongs to a set titled "Cinema Stars: A Series of 30 Hand Coloured Pictures" which features popular film actresses from the 1930s. Collectible cards like this were very popular during the 1920s and 1930s, and they were distributed by various brands in both tobacco and food products.
