October 25, 1953 Reel 162 Item 5 The Midday Sermon (After some remarks by the pastor, the singing of Lay My Burdens Down is resumed. Then follows the sermon. As with the Sunday School lesson, I recorded only a portion of the sermon, and I shall transcribe only samples of what I recorded. The sermon was preached, not by the gentle-spoken, middle-aged pastor, but by a young preacher from a nearby church. The sermon begins near the end of Reel 162, takes up all of Reel 163, and is concluded at the beginning of Reel 164. Here follows an excerpt of what is on Reel 162:) I was thinking back, a few days age, about Man How poor man is I'm talking about myself and you too We find, back when Jesus was to be born There was a great cry in the East And it was Rachel Rachel crying for her children Now, the name Rachel was a woman Ain't that right? And that there meant The church Crying for her children Now these children was being destroyed boys Boys, male children, ain't that right? Ah, now, the point, what I'm trying to get to is this You don't find so many men suffering and worrying about it back in them days It was a woman It was a woman It was the women My son being destroyed Crying Telling God about it It was a woman...
