Description

This article describes a suit filed in federal court to protest a Montgomery city ordinance requiring segregated parks and recreation facilities. The eight African Americans, represented by attorney Solomon S. Seay, Jr., ask that the ordinance be declared unconstitutional and that future segregation of public parks be prohibited. African American citizens had submitted petitions to open park access twice before, but the city commission had refused to do so.
