Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.On verso, the delivery address is "Rev. Amos a. Phelps, Boston, Mass."The manuscript is stamped, "PHELPS, MSS."John E. Brown writes to Amos A. Phelps that he is glad to hear that Phelps decided to leave the Anti-Slavery Society and resume his clerical office. The High Street society invited a young man from Oberlin to preach for them, but Brown thinks Mr. Torrey in his church may be dismissed soon. He encourages Phelps to consider the position when it opens. Finally, he mentions the death of his own son.
