Description

Dean Goodman is an actor, director and theatre critic in the Bay Area. His acting career took him to Hollywood, Broadway and on a tour of the United States and Canada. He was acclaimed for his Shakespearian roles. He also performed in musical comedies, in films (Coppola's Tucker, among others), and in television. To recognize the work of other theater professionals in the Bay Area, Goodman created the Dean Goodman Choice Awards. Also, he has been involved in various writing projects, including a comprehensive history of Bay Area theater, a memoir called ""Maria, Marlene and Me"" (Goodman married Marlene Dietrich's daughter Maria Seiber) and twenty years of weekly columns for Hollywood Drama-Logue.Interview conducted for the Legacy Oral History Project.California Preservation Service (CAPS)
