Holograph, signedRichard Davis Webb says that this is the first year that the Boston box (of contributions for the anti-slavery bazaar) was not packed and shipped from his house. He describes Mrs. Mary Edmundson (Mrs. Eliza Wigham's older sister). Her brother, John Wigham, lives with her. Richard D. Webb mentions William P. Powell, who helped with the shipping of the box. He tells of Maria Webb's efforts to get people to send contributions to the Rochester bazaar instead of the Boston bazaar. He discusses the prices to be charged at the bazaar. Richard D. Webb comments: "Wendell Phillips or E. Quincy will help to plunder the Philistines." He mentions a book called "Revolution de Paris," which he believes should be bought by a library on account of its high price and historical value. He refers to a bookcase for Samuel May, Jr. He lists the contributions of money from Irish contributors, especially mentioning Richard Allen. Richard D.
