Description

John P. Green (1845-1940) was a prominent Cleveland attorney, and served in the Ohio Legislature as both representative and senator. He introduced the Labor Day bill setting aside the first Monday in September, the first bill of its kind in the country, earning him the title "Father of Labor Day." His autobiography, Truth Stranger than Fiction, was published in 1920.
