Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Recipient inferred by cataloger based on letters contents.In this letter to William Lloyd Garrison, Cornelius Bramhall sends him "two dollars from Joshua R. Johnson who wishes to become a subscriber to the Liberator ..." Bramhall then comments on reading in the Liberator of July 22 that Garrison's "health was not sufficient to allow you to meet with the members of Mr. [Theodore] Parker's society in their annual Pic Nic." He discusses Garrison's health and says that "nothing would give half as much pleasure a a good long visit from you and Mrs. G," promising them "the best room in the House & a Horse or Carriage at your command during your stay ..." Bramhall also notes that August 1 is the anniversary of emancipation in the British West Indies and says that "it is a beautiful day for celebration, but Mamon has the hearts of most of our citizens & I believe there is no celebration by any in this vicinity."
