Text on reverse: "Labeled '104 Double Lynching,' it shows a night flash shot of two Negroes hanging from a tree branch with a crowd of men and women standing by, some smiling." Bodies of Tom Shipp and Abe Smith, Marion, Grant County, Indiana, Aug 7, 1930. Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
