Description
The Jackson Street Community Council (JSCC) was created in Seattle in 1946 by the Asian and African-American communities to organize and support neighborhood businesses and social service organizations. The JSCC became a model of ethnic cooperation as the officers of the organization rotated among the African American, Chinese, Filipino, and Japanese membership. JSCC activities included getting traffic lights installed, sponsoring girl scout and boy scout troops, and publishing a racially integrated business and service directory.
