Bill of sale dated February 24, 1843 for a Negro woman named Ann Harris and her male child sold by Charles Feinour, Sr. of Baltimore City to Michael G. Dorsey of the Howard District of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The sale is in the amount of $300. Witnessed by John Wright and Justice of the Peace William Steuart of Baltimore City on February 24 and then witnessed by Baltimore County clerk Tho. (Thomas) Kell and recorded by the late clerk Jno. L. (John L.) Moore of the Howard District of Anne Arundel County on March 14, the document identifies Ann Harris as a colored woman age about 19 years who has a male child about 6 months old. (Editor's note: During this time period, Howard County was known as the Howard District of Anne Arundel County. Howard County was officially designated a county in 1851. Why the record for the Howard District of Anne Arundel County was not signed is not known.)
