Image of the altered photograph entitled Nellie Mae Rowe with Little Nellie (felt tip pen and paint on photograph, 10 in. X 12 in.), which was completed near the end of the artist's life in 1982. The black-and-white photograph shows the artist holding a stuffed doll she created. Portions of the photograph are colored in red and white pigment. A hand-drawn border surrounds the image.Rowe, an African American artist who spent much of her life in Vinings, Georgia, achieved recognition for her art during the 1970s.
